Meta agreed to pay up to $18 billion to a coalition of state attorneys general over claims it knowingly exposed young users to mental harm and misled the public about platform safety. The company expects to book roughly $10 billion of that as a Q3 2026 legal expense, alongside reforms including a default two-hour daily limit and a midnight-to-6am blackout for teen accounts.
