The EU AI Act’s high-risk rules are now legally binding

3% OF GLOBAL TURNOVER, MAX PENALTY

August 2, 2026 marked the enforcement date for the EU AI Act’s high-risk system obligations, covering both providers and deployers of qualifying AI tools. Violations carry penalties of up to 15 million euros or 3% of global annual turnover, whichever is higher.
